Spring 1 homework
This half terms homework will be based on what we are learning in class. Please choose 2 or 3 of the following ideas to complete over this half term, all based around baptism.
In this project, children will explore Baptism as a special way we are welcomed into God’s family. Reception children will learn that Baptism is a celebration of belonging, love, and community. They will be encouraged to be curious about the symbols they see in church and active in sharing their learning with their families. |

|
|
1. Baptism Symbols Hunt |
Look at pictures of a Baptism (in books, online, or your family’s photos). |
Draw or make a list of the symbols you can see—water, candle, white garment, priest, oil, font, parents and godparents. |
2. “My Family Welcomes Me” Picture |
Draw a picture of a time your family welcomed you—this could be coming home as a baby, your first day at school, or a celebration. |
Talk with a grown-up about how this is like God welcoming us at Baptism. |
3. Create a Baptism Collage |
Using magazines, stickers, recycled materials, or your own drawings, make a collage showing a Baptism scene or the different symbols used. |
4. Make Your Own Baptism Candle |
Use paper, card, or a cardboard tube to design your own Baptism candle. Add symbols such as a cross, light, water droplets, or the dove for the Holy Spirit. |
5. Role-Play a Baptism |
With your family or toys, act out a Baptism. Talk about who is there (priest, parents, godparents) and what they do. |
6. “I Belong” Poster |
Make a poster showing all the groups you belong to—your family, class, school, clubs, friends, and God’s family. Add photos or drawings to show how you belong and help others. |
7. Water Art |
Create artwork using watercolours or blue tones to show that water gives life. Talk with an adult about how water is used in Baptism to show new life in God’s family. |
8. Interview a Family Member |
Ask someone in your family about your Baptism (or theirs). You could write down or draw what they remember. |
|
