Blessed Carlo Acutis

As Computing Subject Leader I had to pick Blessed Carlo Acutis. Carlo was an avid gamer, he created his own website and enjoyed computer programming (my favourite part of all the computing lessons).

It is important for us to remember that not all Saints are from hundreds of years ago, some are just like us. They look like us, they dress like us, they enjoy the same hobbies as us.

All about Carlo

Carlo died at the age of 15 from Leukemia, but before that he was devoted to the Holy Eucharist and attended Mass daily.

Carlo showed many virtues but was especially Caring.

Carlo had a great concern for his friends often inviting those being treated poorly or going through difficult situations to his home for support. Some were dealing with divorce at home or being bullied due to disabilities.

Carlo used his talents for God.

Carlo used his tech-savvy skillset to build an entire website catalogue of Eucharistic miracles around the world. He started the years-long project when he was 11 years old.

Carlo was incredibly brave and courageous. At St Thomas we all follow our motto of Truth and Courage.

During his battle with leukemia, his doctor asked him if he was suffering much pain and he responded that “there are people who suffer much more than me.”

Carlo was beatified on Oct 10th 2020.
