Special Educational Needs and Disabilities

St. Thomas’ Catholic Academy

At St Thomas’ we offer a broad and balanced curriculum for all children irrespective of gender, special needs, disability, language spoken, race, culture or religion. We strive for excellence and have the highest commitment to supporting, challenging and nurturing all children in school through quality first teaching.

We recognise that some children may need additional support to allow them to access the curriculum. We use a graduated approach to removing barriers to learning that children may experience. This will be initiated with the class teacher, supported by the SENDCO. We work with outside agencies and parents to ensure we provide the best provision for each individual.

The contents of this section of the website should hopefully help you, as a parent, recognise the process of SEND at our school, as well as provide some useful links and information that might support you at home.

You will also see our 'School Information Report' with further details of the provision on offer, along with our SEND Policy, Equality Policy and Accessibility Policy.

Please read the Staffordshire local SEND offer for more information on what can be accessed locally to support your child.
